BELIEFS: The Day of the Dead

People from all over the world have their own traditions of celebrating the All soul's day. But Mexicans celebrate this season in a unique way. They celebrate the  'Day of the Dead' every November.

Families give sugar skulls and skeletons and cook a special ' bread of the dead '. Some, however , believe the dead return to visit their families. Determined to be good hosts these people leave a feast ready for their unearthy visitors.

This tradition can be traced back to the indigenous people whose rituals that celebrate the death of their ancestors have been observed by these civilization for almost 2,500-3000 years.

BELIEFS: Spooky Photos

Some native people believe that photos can capture someone's soul. But, science can prove that it was all made by our own imagination. Photographs can capture many things, but ghosts, No I don't think so. Cameras react to light which make a new form of something , something like smoke or any reflection .

The following photos are examples of ghosts. But these are not ghosts. They're just illusion or probably made up.

Smokes form shapes, sometimes people's shape, that make us believe that these are ghost. I am one of millions of people who do believe in ghosts but ghost in photos are just coincidence. Some people also use photoshopped photos to make others believe that these ghosts really appear in this photos. Others made illusions. I myself tried an illusion. I
pour maybe one tablespoon of face powder to my hand.  Then I blew the powder and took a photo of the smoke-like thing that appeared when I blew the powder and it's somewhat like ghost. You can try it yourself.

Some of you may not believe on ghost, some of you do believe on them . But you can't find evidences of these paranormal phenomena. I believe that you can only trust someone's story if you yourself see one of them...

BE AFRAID : Phobia; Triskaidekaphobia, Fear of Number 13

Many people are superstitious about the number 13, but for few people its a full-blown phobia called triskaidekaphobia.
Here are some reasons why people are superstitious about the number thirteen:

*Some Christian traditions have it that at the Last supper Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus  was the 13th to sit at the table.

*Triskaidekaphobia may have also affected the Vikings—it is believed that Loki in the Norse pantheon was the 13th god. More specifically, Loki was believed to have engineered the murder of Balder, and was the 13th guest to arrive at the funeral. This is perhaps related to the superstition that if thirteen people gather, one of them will die in the following year. Another Norse tradition involves the myth of Norna-gest: when the uninvited norns showed up at his birthday celebration—thus increasing the number of guests from ten to thirteen—the norns cursed the infant by magically binding his lifespan to that of a mystic candle they presented to him.

*Ancient Persians believed the twelve constellations in the Zodiac controlled the months of the year, and each ruled the earth for a thousand years at the end of which the sky and earth collapsed in chaos. Therefore, the thirteenth is identified with chaos and the reason Persians leave their houses to avoid bad luck on the thirteenth day of the Persian calendar, a tradition called Sizdah Bedar

BE AFRAID : Phobia; Ichthyophobia-fear of fish

Animal phobia is a fear caused by the presence or thought of a specific animal that poses little or no danger at all. Phobias about animals are very common, there are a lot of people who have fears even to domesticated animals like dogs and cats, it is even harder for them because there are so many of these animals around. Some examples of animal phobias are :
  • Ants - Myrmecophobia,

  • Bees - Apiphobia

  • Birds - Ornithophobia

  • Bulls - Taurophobia

  • Cats - Ailurophobia

  • Chickens - Alektorophobia

  • Dogs - Cynophobia

  • Ichthyophobia is one of the most common animal phobia. Ichthyophobia is also known as fear of fishes.
Hollywood hero Brad Pitt might be one of the coolest man on the planet ,but put him in a fish shop and he'll start crying. He's one of the thousands of people who have ichthyophobia.

BE AFRAID: Phobia:Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia-the fear of long words

I hope this post will help because I've heard that lots of people thought that Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia is fear of hippopotamus monster or something.

Are you afraid of words like SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS, or ANTIDISESTABLISHMENTARIANISM? if you are.. have a phobia called Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia.

    Hey thats not funny..
It doesn't seem fair but people who are afraid of long words are said to suffer from Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia. It started as a joke , but it is now so well known, it's kind of true. Another name for this phobia is almost as long -its sesquippedaliophobia.

    .

    BE AFRAID: Phobia;Coulrophobia

    Do clowns make you cry?

They will probably if you suffer from coulrophobia- a pathological fear of clowns. This phobia is common among children and infants. The most likely explanation to this phobia is the fact that they're smiling when their make-up looks sad.

My youngest brother suffer from this phobia before but when he realize that they where not to be afraid of because they are funny,he get to like clowns.

Another cause of this phobia is because of movies, tv shows where the clowns were the criminals or the bad guys just like Joker , the criminal in the movie, the Dark knight. Children get afraid of clowns because they think that the other clowns are evil just like Joker.

BE AFRAID : Phobia; Arachnophobia the fear of spiders

An irritational fear is known as phobia. People are scared of all sorts of phobia but top of the list is the arachnophobia or fear of spiders.Scientists believe that this is because our ancient ancestors had to look out for poisonous bugs.

Here are some of the poisonous spiders:

    Brown Recluse Spiders
-the brown recluse venom can cause significant cutaneous injury with tissue loss and necrosis.

    Black Widow Spiders-

the Back Widow Spider can inflict a painful bite which can be fatal, especially to the young and elderly. An effective anti-venom was developed in 1956.

    HObo Spiders

    - although the bite of the hobo spider is initially painless, the bite can be serious. After 24 hours, the bite develops into a blister and after 24-36 hours, the blister breaks open, leaving an open, oozing ulceration. Typically when the venom is injected, the victim will experience an immediate redness, which develops around the bite. The most common reported symptom is severe headache. Other symptoms can include nausea, weakness, fatigue, temporary memory loss and vision impairment. In any case, first aid and medical attention should be sought, if bitten, as and when any adverse health effects are observed.

The fear of spiders can be treated by any of the general techniques suggested for specific phobias. As with all phobias, the strength of the associations means the individual must actively pursue the techniques, and outsiders should in no way undermine or "play" with the phobia in the meantime.

    Say NO to BULLYING

BULLYING is one of the serious problems of the society. As teen-agers, we can get rid of it. We can even prevent these things to happen.I already know about this at the young age of thirteen and i am aware of it's effects to us teen agers because some of those who are being bullied even commit suicide.

Being open to our parents, teachers,or any other older person such as the police is one way to stop it.Another is to show them that you are not the type of person that let others step unto you.Let's speak, and stop bullying

    Welcome

I've heared a lot about blogging and i found it interesting. As a teen-ager, you'll find it difficult to write some stuff about yourself, the world around you and what would it be like if you try to share your own experience, or some facts about life.
